Hidden Cove on Hamilton Island is a little mangrovy beach that’s not easily accessible unless you’re staying in an apartment nearby. Looking out towards the mainland of Airlie Beach and Plum Pudding Island in the midground, this gorgeous little tree is exposed by the outgoing tide. It’s a beautiful spot for paddle in the evening and it’s where you can see some wallabies hopping about on the sand at low tide. We even saw a deer down there once and I swear we were not hallucinating. Hamilton Island was once a deer park -true story! The original piece is painted on linen, with the sandy-coloured fabric providing a natural base for the sand.
